Dear BKSteppers Community,
The health and safety of our students, teaching artists, musicians, staff, and their family and friends are our number one priority. To that end, I, and the Board of Directors, are closely monitoring the situation with COVID-19 and encourage everyone to be vigilant and adhere to the protection protocols provided by federal, state and local officials.
As you know, the BKSteppers provides many educational services to students within the NYC Public School system. For those programs, we will follow the directions of the Department of Education and, as long as schools are open, we will continue to provide in-school programming to our students.
We will, however, suspend our weekend and other out-of-school programming, in an abundance of caution for the health and safety of our community from March 14, 2020 through March 29, 2020. Hopefully we will have more clarity about the situation in another two weeks and during this time I will be in contact with the Board of Directors to assess our scheduling needs and other spring events, including our Battle of the Drumlines event. We will stay in close and open communication with you.
As a valued member of our community, you can appreciate the impact that multiple cancellations have on our organization’s financial health and sustainability and as a result, that of our Teaching Artists, Musicians, Assistants, and Staff.
Thank you, again, for your care and support for our BK Steppers community.
Sincerely,
Antonio Thompson
Executive Director
